Untitled

Hi

Just stopped by with an update on what I have been working on recently.

I have  just completed this coloured pencil drawing.

It was the first time that I used my own reference photo.

It is not meant to be a true likeness I just used it for the composition.

I have also been working on a piece using layered mono-prints, stencils and stamps.

this is how it looks so far.

I hope you will stop by again to see it when it's finished.

Hi

As it was Mothers Day in the UK this last weekend I did this

tile sized  (5x5 in)  painting on mount board.

Just the right size for this little wooden easel which is a nice way to display it

which makes a change from a frame.

I am working on a couple of things at the moment.

This is a coloured pencil piece.

And working in layers using mono printing and stencils and stamps.

Thanks for visiting

I always welcome your comments.

The Ice Queen Cometh

Hi

A little tweaking here and there and add a crown made of ice and she is finished.

Just look at that face.

 Ice Queen with attitude!

Hi

This is  a work in progress in coloured pencil on handmade cotton rag paper.

I like the stippled effect that you get with coloured pencil on this paper

but I have used Pencil Blender for the first time on this to see

what it would look like. So far I have used on the hair and the face.

I'm not sure I will use it again on this paper it is a bit too porous.

The Apple of My Eye

Hi

Considering this piece nearly ended up in the bin

I am really pleased how it turned out.

Normally I don't tape my paper down when I work but this results in

paint marks getting on the back which doesn't look very professional

if you want to sell it unframed. So this time I taped down

with low tack masking tape with the idea of trimming it.

However I rather like the white border but even though I de- tacked the tape

further by sticking it to my t-shirt first it  still managed to rip

the surface of the paper in parts.

If anyone can recommend a good tape for this purpose I would be grateful to

hear your thoughts.

Born out of Frustration

Hi

After struggling with this one, out of frustration,

I decided to scribble a face with oil pastels before resigning her to the bin.

But out of a little frustration came a little personality.

One thing that I find difficult is loosening up.

So you can appreciate how pleased I was to find an opportunity

to win a free place on an online course to help you to do just that.

Juliette Crane is offering a chance to win a free place on her course 'The Joy of Painting'.

All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning is to spread the word

and leave a comment.

In the meantime I think I will just have a play with this and see how it turns out.

Hi

I worked on two small pieces over the weekend.

One completed and another still a work in progress.

The first was coloured pencil on handmade cotton rag paper.

The second is the WIP. I have laid down the acrylic under

painting and will continue in oil pastel.

This was intended to b a 'fast' and 'loose' mini painting but I struggled

with the acrylics for some reason.

Hope you will pop back to see her when she is finished.

Klimt Inspired.

Hi

She is finally finished.

She was originally intended for an open exhibition at a local gallery.

Unfortunately it was not ready in time which is a shame as opportunities to see your work

hanging in a gallery don't come along very often.

The title of the exhibition was 'Sparkling Spring' and they asked that the artwork

should reflect that with the use of metallic's, foils etc.

I used metallic acrylic's in the background and in the flowers on her dress

but the glimmer doesn't come across well in the photo.

I started with acrylic paint and then went on to use coloured pencil.

I normally frame my paintings in modern frames with a mount (matt) but for this I am

considering a gold ornate frame without a mount.

If I can find a suitable frame I will share her again in a future post.

Thank you to everyone who visited last week for Paint Party Friday.
